Development History

Phase 1 (1987-1995): Focusing on Electric Refrigerators & Rolling Development

In its early days, the enterprise focused on developing electric refrigerators. By upgrading equipment, implementing comprehensive quality management, and strengthening technological innovation and R&D, Aucma refrigerators quickly gained market popularity, earning acclaim from society and consumers. In 1995, it was honored as China's "King of Electric Refrigerators."

The enterprise explored an intensive development path characterized by "self-exploitation, self-restraint, and rolling growth," setting a successful example for state-owned enterprise reforms and receiving high recognition from Comrade Wu Bangguo, then Vice Premier of the State Council.

Phase 2 (1996-2005): Capital Operation & Diversified Business

Guided by goals of "scale, strength, and innovation," "five modernizations" (scale, diversification, intensification, modernization, internationalization), and "three upgrades" (industrial, managerial, and cultural), the enterprise pursued diversified operations, entering sectors including air conditioners, refrigerators, kitchen appliances, water heaters, washing machines, small home appliances, electric vehicles, and marine biology.

To support diversification, Aucma strengthened capital operations. In December 2000, Aucma's stock was officially listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange, laying a foundation for capital-driven growth and diversified business expansion.

Phase 3 (2006-2014): Focusing on Core Business & Starting a Second Venture

With new leadership appointed by Qingdao Municipal Government, Aucma embarked on a "Second Venture" journey. The new leadership implemented the "Aucma Three-Year Revitalization Plan," prioritizing core strengths in refrigeration. Leveraging opportunities like the Home Appliance Subsidy Program, Aucma saw rapid growth in its core refrigeration and household appliance businesses, significantly enhancing market competitiveness, profitability, and overall strength.

The enterprise established a market-oriented quality evaluation system and integrated quality prevention/control mechanisms. Through intensive management improvements, cost optimization, structural reforms, and strategic adjustments in industrial/product portfolios and global markets, Aucma further solidified its foundation for sustainable development.

Phase 4 (2015-Present): Internet Era & Creating the Future

Aucma launched its "Internet + Full Cold Chain" strategy, reshaping its industrial landscape: developing smart home appliances (transitioning from hardware to "hardware + services"), smart cold chain solutions (providing end-to-end temperature-controlled services from farm to table), and advanced low-temperature technology (scaling up key low-temperature tech applications to become a globally influential player in this field).

Additionally, Aucma expanded into integrated circuits, intelligent robotics, quasi-financial services, and international trade, evolving into a digital, intelligent, global, and tech-driven enterprise group.

In 1987, Qingdao Red Star Appliance General Factory built an additional Huanghai Refrigerator Factory (the predecessor of Aucma) based on the original First Washing Machine Factory.
In 1988, Aucma's technical developers researched and developed new products under extremely difficult conditions. The picture shows Aucma employees discussing performance improvements for electric refrigerators.
In March 1990, through self-reliant technological transformation of outdated production lines with an investment of only 35 million yuan, the company achieved an annual production capacity of 1 million electric refrigerators.
In 1990, the first "Aucma" brand refrigerator independently developed by Aucma rolled off the production line, passed inspection, and was launched on the market, quickly opening up market opportunities.
On August 22, 1995, Aucma refrigerators were recognized as the "King of Chinese Electric Refrigerators" by the 50th International Statistical Conference, the National Bureau of Statistics, and the China Center for Technological Progress.
Since the early 1990s, Aucma has been working on fluorine-free replacement projects. By 2000, all fluorine-free transformations at Aucma were completed, making it the largest fluorine-free refrigerator production base at the time and winning the Gold Award for the "First China Ozone Protection Contribution Award" issued by the State Environmental Protection Administration.
In 2001, Aucma exported 220,000 refrigerators to North America with "zero complaints," becoming the first refrigerator supplier in the North American market with zero complaints.
On September 2, 2002, the State Bureau of Quality and Technical Supervision awarded Aucma's electric refrigerators the title of "China Famous Brand Product." Aucma products are highly welcomed by consumers.
On June 24, 2004, Premier Wen Jiabao visited Aucma. The picture shows Premier Wen receiving Aucma model workers.
On January 4, 2008, Yuan Shanchun from Shizha Village, Yanjiayu Township, Zhangqiu City, Shandong Province, inadvertently created two "firsts" in China's "Home Appliance Subsidy Program." On that day, the Aucma refrigerator model BCD-189FD he purchased at Qinxin Electric Appliance in Zhangqiu became the first "subsidized home appliance" sold nationwide. On January 9, 2008, Yuan Shanchun received the full 241.15 yuan financial subsidy, becoming the first beneficiary of the national "Home Appliance Subsidy Program."
In 2010, the company was listed in the "Announcement of Key High-Tech Enterprises under the National Torch Program 2010," becoming one of the 20 key high-tech enterprises in Qingdao.
In 2011, two subsidiary companies were established: Qingdao Aucma Ultra-Low Temperature Freezing Equipment Co., Ltd. and Qingdao Aucma Commercial Appliance Co., Ltd. Since then, Aucma has formed four major directions in its core refrigeration business: traditional refrigeration home appliances, ultra-low temperature, bio-cold chain, and commercial cold chain, further strengthening its core competitiveness in the refrigeration industry.
In 2012, Aucma's Henan Electrical Appliance Industrial Park was put into operation, marking a crucial step in its national industrial layout.
In 2013, Aucma became a "Senior Sponsor" of the 2014 Qingdao World Horticultural Exposition.
In August 2014, the first brand showcase store of Aucma Electric Appliance Ghana Co., Ltd. officially opened in Accra, the capital of Ghana.
In March 2015, Aucma became a United Nations global procurement supplier, and new vaccine refrigerators began to enter medical cold chain systems in various countries.
On September 28, 2015, Aucma grandly launched its "Internet + Full Cold Chain" strategy, marking a comprehensive upgrade of the company's strategy.
In 2016, Aucma was selected into the "China's 500 Most Valuable Brands" list, with a brand value exceeding 20 billion yuan.
In 2017, Aucma was honored as one of the "Top 500 Asian Brands 2017."
